I can’t believe the Fat Face Barbie Tour 2009 is over!!  It only felt like yesterday that we were packing up the van with copious amounts of Fat Face Moocho beer, enough bin bags to litter pick the planet and the notorious turtle outfits for the World acclaimed Fat-National Turtle Volleyball Tournaments; and hitting the road!  And now it’s all over, but not before Fat Face and the Marine Conservation Society left their mark (and cleaned it back up again) on quite a few beaches and shorelines around the UK.  The Fat Face Foundation’s focus for this season was to encourage others to ‘Protect the places we play in’ whilst also enjoying it to the max!

Highlights for me:

Sheringham Beach near Holt in Norfolk: Biggest sausages I’ve ever seen on a BBQ and you guys certainly rocked those turtle outfits.

Lake Windermere, Ambleside in the Lake District: Our very own Fat Face Band from Keswick playing into the evening.  Awesome!

Gyllygnvase Beach in Falmouth:  Guys who hadn’t even come to the beach for the event hearing a shout out to get involved with the beach clean and came on over.  I think the colour choice of marigolds was the clincher!

South Sands in Salcombe: I think that dampish, Monday evening in Salcombe was when the new generation of Stand Up Paddleboarders was born, they loved it!  Massive thanks to John Hibbard and the guys at South Sands Sailing School.

Harbour Beach in St Ives: It was all about the Fat-National Turtle Volleyball Championships as the local Lifeguard and Fire Service all flocked to get in on a piece of the shell.  We even had a professional Ref.

Polkerris Beach in Fowey:  Gorgeous day, gorgeous beach, gorgeous people…enough said!

Porth Neigwl and Abersoch Beach in Abersoch: Mammoth beach clean conducted at Porth Neigwl beach where you wouldn’t believe what had washed up…including a shark!  Fantastic efforts by all those that got involved

Rhosneigr Beach in Rhosneigr, North Wales: Ray Mears-esque wind resistant structures that leapt up all over the beach keeping the wind out and the beer flowing!

On behalf of the Fat Face Events Team and the Marine Conservation Society, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all those that we met on the Tour that donned the blue wristband and rocked up at the Beach to do their bit to help keep our coastline and oceans clean.
